ASU postpones final Sun Devil Stadium reconstruction

Arizona State is postponing the third and final major phase of Sun Devil Stadium reconstruction until after the 2017 season because of new fundraising and partnerships that will allow for previously unplanned enhancements on the east side.

Discussions over the past six weeks led to a conclusion that new ideas for the east side could not be properly evaluated and incorporated into architectural planning in time to start Phase III construction after the final home game Nov. 10.

Instead, Hunt/Sundt Construction will complete work on premium seating areas on the west side, finish the student-athlete facility in the north end zone and install a 48-foot-by-113-foot video board on the north side plaza after the 2016 season then rebuild the east side after the 2017 season.
