Mets leave Philly on a high note, eking out an extra-inning victory

The Mets eked out 6-5 victory in Philadelphia in a chaotic ping-pong affair to salvage this week of games against the Phillies.

Pete Alonso got things started for the Mets early with an absolute laser beam of a solo home run in the first. The Mets stretched their lead to 2-0 in the second against old friend Taijuan Walker on a Starling Marte single and a Brett Baty double down the right field line. Walker had to exit the game early in the fourth when a Marte comebacker struck him in the toe and he limped into the clubhouse, unable to continue.
