Mets victimized by other team’s batboy in wild blooper

Sports

The Mets have a hard enough time when they aren’t playing nine-on-ten.

A matinee crowd at Citi Field witnessed an all-time blooper Thursday afternoon when Mets third baseman Wilmer Flores dropped a foul popup when he was struck on the arm by a Brewers batboy trying to get out of the way.

The umpires ruled the batter safe, prolonging the fourth-inning at-bat, because the bewildered batboy — who picked up his stool and was trying to retreat to the visitors’ dugout — had not interfered intentionally on the play.
